What is a Media Center?

  • Sometimes they are called Libraries and sometimes they are called Media Centers.  What is the difference?  Does it matter?

Yes, it does matter.  Media Centers are a more advanced form of libraries.  As our society has evolved into a more technologically dependent society our knowledge centers have changed too.  We still have lots of shelves of good books to read but we also have audiobooks, ebooks, online and digital resources that can be used at home and at school.  Media Centers are not dusty, silent places to just sit and read.  Today they are both a physical place that hosts interactive events such as Brain Center and Challenge 24 competition, as well as a place to learn about and use online resources to help you be academically successful.
