    National Honor Society Chapter (NHS)

Brunswick County Early College High School obtained it's charter membership from the National Honor Society in the Fall of 2009.  The Early College Faculty inducted eight charter members.  The Brunswick Early College National Honor Society prides itself on hold the four pillars of the society in high regard.  Students inducted into the chapter have met the four pillars of leadership, scholarship, character and service.  Each chapter of the National Honor Society sets is standards for induction and Brunswick Early College has the highest standards in Brunswick County.

The chapter participates in various fundraisers through out the year.  With money raised students determine service projects to support.  Each year NHS has donated Thanksgiving baskets, been Santa's Helpers and sponsored a scholarship; in addition to donating to other organizations and people for whom a specific need has arisen.  Chapter members also volunteer at least 10 hours each month in the community.

The chapter is student lead.  Chapter meetings are run by Robert's Rules of Order and once a project has been voted on by the chapter, a committee is established to discuss details and bring a recommendation back to the chapter for approval.  Each chapter member must serve on a committee.

To become a member of the NHS a student must be inducted.  Students become eligible for consideration the Fall of their junior year.  The Selection Process is explained in detail in the Selection Process tab.

Brunswick Early College inducts new members in a traditional induction ceremony during the fall semester each year. Students are eligible for consideration from the fall semester of their junior year through their last year.

Brunswick Early College High School's chapter prides itself on developing members with leadership skills, the highest level of personal character and integrity, service to our school, community and global needs, in addtion to academic scholars.  NHS members are called upon to use their skills to represent our school within the school and the community.  To be inducted as a member of BECHS's National Honor Society is the highest recognition a BECHS student can receive.
