You Matter
Our You Matter Project focuses on student leadership, mental health, and provides students with a safe outlet to discuss personal concerns with certified personnel. The project utilizes student leaders to bridge any gaps between adults and students within the school building. Student leaders are known as ambassadors and advocate for ways to improve mental health within the student body. They are chosen based on an application process where behavior, attendance, and leadership are assessed. Only a select number of students are chosen from each grade level each year, so it is a high honor to be an ambassador for the You Matter Project. Some ways our ambassadors have showcased their advocacy is by creating our school's calming room, which is a location within the school building for students to use in times of dysregulation and need a private area to calm down or wait for student support staff. Another project our ambassadors participate in is being trained to become peer mediators. As part of the You Matter Project, our ambassadors host multiple kindness projects throughout the year to help build relationships and empathy within the school. There is also a Google form available for all students to request to talk to a member of student personnel as needed. The You Matter Project strives to help all students know that they matter.
