Mrs. Mary Lucy Glockner
Hello there! I am so excited to get to know you and your child as we travel throughout the school year together. Let me tell you a little about myself. I have taught at Bolivia Elementary since 1999. During my tenure, I have taught math, science, social studies, and AIG math. I am currently the lead AIG teacher for our school, so feel free to send me any questions about gifted education! I feel so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful school community. This year, I will be teaching all subject areas, and I am looking forward to the challenge. I am looking forward to getting to know you and your child this year!
On September 1st, 2020, I was diagnosed with Metastatic Breast Cancer. I took time off for treatment, and I was able to come back for the 2021-2022 school year. My most recent scans are stable, and I am doing well as I live with this chronic condition. My school family was incredibly supportive while I was gone, and has been amazing since I've been back. The staff of Bolivia Elementary is truly a family. I will have doctor's appointments throughout the year, but my absences are usually minimal.
My husband, Rod, and I have been married since 1998. We met while we were attending UNCW (Go Seahawks!). We have two wonderful sons, Jack, who is a senior at Appalachian State this year, and William, who is a senior at Laney High School. It's a really big year for us! We love spending time together making memories. Last spring break, we traveled to Ireland. What an amazing experience! Our family loves our pets. We have a yellow lab, named Maggie Lynn, a cat named Scarlet, axolotls Paco, Philipe, and Sylvia, and a red-eared slider turtle named Shelder, who lives in the classroom.
I’m excited about all of the new experiences we will have this school year!
