Hi, I'm Ian Sands, your host at the Art of South B. Our classes are designed to help students learn to think and work as artists. We run an open art room based on the Teaching for Artistic Behavior (TAB) philosophy. We teach the concepts and techniques but it is up to the students to design the projects and select the medium that will best bring their idea to fruition.

The Art of South B is a place for the Visual Artists from South Brunswick HS, NC can come to work. For those who wish to express themselves visually, we offer a full range of Visual Arts classes including Beginner, Intermediate, Proficient, Advanced, AP Studio Art and AP 3D Design, and Sculpture & Ceramics.

Teaching for Artistic Behaviors (TAB)

Here at the Art of South B, we incorporate the Teaching for Artistic Behavior or TAB philosophy in our classroom. TAB states that the student is the artist and the art room is their studio.

We believe students should be involved in the entire artistic process. This includes deciding what they will create, the material they will use to create it, designing the work, creating the work, and finally, reflecting on the work they created.

It is our job as teachers to present ideas and concepts, demonstrate techniques and materials, and encourage and support our students to create and produce works of art at the highest level.
