    FLUENCY

Reading with your child at home will increase their fluency. While reading with them, make sure to allow them time to TRY to sound out the words they don't know. If they have tried to sound out the word and still don't know it, please feel free to help them and/or tell them the word. Have them re-read the sentence from the beginning now that they know the word. Below is a video of a strategy I have been working on with your children in the classroom.

Along with reading with your child at home, asking questions will also help them better understand what they have read. Below are some examples of questions you can ask your child before you begin reading, during the reading, and after you have read the text.
