Degrees and Certifications:

Columbia College, B.A Speech Language Pathology University of North Carolina at Wilmington, B.A. K-6 Elementary Education

Mrs. Spring Richardson

Welcome to Southport Elementary's second gradeThis is my 25th year of teaching and twenty-four of those years have been spent at Southport Elementary.  I am a graduate of Columbia College with a B.A. degree in Speech-Language Pathology (a minor in visual arts) and also from UNCW with a B.A. degree in Elementary Education. I began my career as a speech pathologist in Clemson, SC, and then ventured to N.C. to pursue an additional degree in Elementary Education/K-6 while I continued working in home health.  My husband (Wade) and I have lived in Southport since 1999.  We have two children and a King Charles spaniel named Scout.  I am an avid Clemson fan (Go Tigers!!!), NC State parent (GO Pack!), love to teach, read, drink coffee, travel, run and I have a passion for photography.

I am looking forward to a fantastic year of working collaboratively with you and your child!

Homework

  • Nightly homework reading of 20 minutes is required for each second grade student.  Have fun….enjoy your favorite genre or current event that your child is interested in.  In the coming weeks, written responses will be incorporated into the reading as well.

Homework will be sent on Mondays and returned on Fridays.  We realize that students have a range of activities outside of the school day and take that into account.  There will be a “free” or catch-up night each week. Please monitor that your student completes the classroom enrichment activities over the course of the school week.
