Greetings!
This is my second year at ECHS and my 33rd year in education. I have taught Kindergarten-Junior College in Health, Physical Education, and English, and I have served as an athletic trainer and school administrator. I have a double Master's Degree in English Education and School Administration. I started my career in Miami, Fl., and have been in Concord, NC, for the past 20 years. I feel very blessed to be a part of the Firebird Family!
All of the English courses taught at BCECHS are taught by semester. In the Fall, freshmen take College English Prep, which is designed to prepare students to write for the accelerated high school and college courses they will take at this school. In the Spring, those students will take Honors English I.
Sophomores take Honors English III in the Fall and Honors English II in the Spring. The courses build off of each other and will prepare students to take the English II EOC (End of Course) test in the Spring as well as develop the reading comprehension and writing skills necessary in college-level courses.
Students take Honors English IV in the year they graduate. A major component of the course is the graduation project, and students are expected to start the class with the product pre-approved and partially completed. Students will spend time workshopping and critiquing their work in a collaborative work environment during the first nine weeks and will complete the literature portion of the curriculum during the second nine weeks.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. Email will be the best way to get in touch with me: sprentice@bcswan.net
Thank you for the opportunity to work with you and your child.
Best Regards,
Sandi Prentice
